Cervical Disc Replacement

Cervical disc replacement is intended for patients who experience neck pain due to damaged discs in the cervical, or neck area, of the spine. Patients suffering from disc damage will often experience neck pain, headaches, and burning pain that radiates down the arm and may be accompanied by numbness or weakness.

A cervical disc replacement procedure involves the removal of the damaged disc, which is then replaced with a movable prosthesis to allow for continued motion at area of surgery. The ideal patients for this procedure usually have a herniated disc and no bone spurs or other spinal deterioration.

Cervical disc replacement is usually an outpatient procedure with no required hospital stay. Patients will usually experience relief of symptoms and the ability to get back to their normal lives.
